So there’s term that is widely used and practiced in politics, and that term is called gaslighting. Gaslighting refers to when you try to manipulate someone psychologically to the point where they think they are crazy. It comes from a 1940s movie called Gaslight. In the movie, a man is essentially trying to get his wife to go crazy to the point where she commits suicide. One way he does this is by purposely dimming the gaslight, and when his wife notices this, he says that the light hasn’t changed brightness, prompting her to question her own sanity. Today, this tactic is widely used in politics, mainly by the left. Especially over the past few years, the left would very obviously do something disgusting, and when the right points it out, they say that they didn’t to that thing and that it is a right wing conspiracy. It is immensely frustrating when they do this, which proves the tactics work. Just this past Independence Day weekend, the media was openly doing this stuff.
On Friday, July 3rd, President Trump gave a speech at Mount Rushmore. Let me just say that this was the best speech President Trump has ever given. He correctly calls out cancel culture, and says that there is a side of this country who wants to tear it all down, which is 100% correct. Here is just a snippet of his speech.
1776 represented the culmination of thousands of years of Western civilization and the triumph of not only spirit, but of wisdom, philosophy, and reason. And yet, as we meet here tonight, there is a growing danger that threatens every blessing our ancestors fought so hard for, struggled, they bled to secure. Our nation is witnessing a merciless campaign to wipe out our history, defame our heroes, erase our values, and indoctrinate our children. Angry mobs are trying to tear down statues of our founders, deface our most sacred memorials, and unleash a wave of violent crime in our cities. Many of these people have no idea why they’re doing this, but some know what they are doing. They think the American people are weak and soft and submissive, but no, the American people are strong and proud and they will not allow our country and all of its values, history, and culture to be taken from them.

One of their political weapons is cancel culture, driving people from their jobs, shaming dissenters, and demanding total submission from anyone who disagrees. This is the very definition of totalitarianism, and it is completely alien to our culture and to our values and it has absolutely no place in the United States of America.

This attack on our liberty, our magnificent liberty must be stopped and it will be stopped very quickly. We will expose this dangerous movement, protect our nation’s children from this radical assault, and preserve our beloved American way of life. In our schools, our newsrooms, even our corporate boardrooms, there is a new far-left fascism that demands absolute allegiance. If you do not speak its language, perform its rituals, recite its mantras, and follow its commandments, then you will be censored, banished, blacklisted, persecuted, and punished. It’s not going to happen to us.

Make no mistake. This left-wing cultural revolution is designed to overthrow the American Revolution. In so doing they would destroy the very civilization that rescued billions from poverty, disease, violence, and hunger, and that lifted humanity to new heights of achievement, discovery, and progress. To make this possible, they are determined to tear down every statue, symbol, and memory of our national heritage.
Yes, yes, thank you Mr. President. Everything he says here is absolutely correct. The left in America is trying to destroy the very fabric of this nation. They do this by tearing down statues. They do this by canceling everyone that doesn’t fall in line of their beliefs. It’s all part of the Religion of Wokeanity. We are seeing them openly doing this. No one is hiding the ball. However, the media decided that it would be best to gaslight everyone about this.
After the speech, the media went on the defense openly saying that everything Trump said about the left was lie, that cancel culture doesn’t exist, and that nobody is trying to destroy America. If you have been following news at all, you would know that this isn’t true. Cancel culture does in fact exist, and the left is trying to destroy America. The media decided to go with it anyways. There has been a bevy of pieces doing as such. Here is a piece from The New York Times titled Trump Uses Mount Rushmore Speech to Deliver Divisive Culture War Message. Here is what it says.
WASHINGTON — Standing in a packed amphitheater in front of Mount Rushmore for an Independence Day celebration, President Trump delivered a dark and divisive speech on Friday that cast his struggling effort to win a second term as a battle against a “new far-left fascism” seeking to wipe out the nation’s values and history.

He doesn’t “portray” this way, they are in fact openly that. Also, he didn’t start the Culture War, he joined it.

Mr. Trump barely mentioned the frightening resurgence of the pandemic, even as the country surpassed 53,000 new cases Friday and health officials across the nation urged Americans to scale back their Fourth of July plans.
Maybe because he thought a speech about independence day was not a time to talk about the Coronavirus. He’s talked about it plenty of times. But there is a time and place with everything.
Instead, appealing unabashedly to his base with ominous language and imagery, he railed against what he described as a dangerous “cancel culture” intent on toppling monuments and framed himself as a strong leader who would protect the Second Amendment, law enforcement and the country’s heritage.
Notice how Cancel Culture is in scare quotes, implying that cancel culture is something made up by Trump. Which is of course laughably untrue.
The scene at Mount Rushmore was the latest sign of how Mr. Trump appears, by design or default, increasingly disconnected from the intense concern among Americans about the health crisis gripping the country. More than just a partisan rally, it underscored the extent to which Mr. Trump is appealing to a subset of Americans to carry him to a second term by changing the subject and appealing to fear and division.
Oh really! This is the game you guys are playing. It is only “appealing to fear and division” to you because he goes directly after you. In reality, the media are the ones invoking division when they openly support the left’s agenda. As well as gaslighting like this. There are other pieces just like this. Uh huh?
The Illinois Democrat told CNN’s “State of the Union” that the president’s Friday speech in South Dakota “spent more time worried about honoring dead Confederates” than discussing the number of Americans who died from COVID-19.
Ok, this is an outright lie. In his speech, not once did he mention any confederate soldier, general or statue. Not once.
“I mean his priorities are all wrong here,” she said. “He should be talking about what we’re gonna do to overcome this pandemic. What are we going to do to push Russia back?“

“Instead, he had no time for that,” she added. “He spent all his time talking about dead traitors.”
Again, there is a time and a place for that. An Independence Day speech is not one of them. Again, the media constantly did this all day after the speech. I think there is a reason for this.
As I mentioned in the beginning, the left is on a mission to destroy America and it is perfectly clear that the media wants to go along with it. Here’s the thing about the media that drives them crazy. Before the internet, places like CNN, The New York Times, etc, held a monopoly on information. Anytime you wanted the news, you would have to go through them. After the internet started up, places like The Drudge Report became another source of information. Over years, more and more companies came to the point to where you can now choose where to get the news. This drove them up a wall, because they no longer held that monopoly. They could no longer manipulate the American people with faulty information. As we have seen here, President Trump rightly called out the left’s agenda and it has driven the media crazy. Their cover is blown, their agenda is no longer hidden.
This is why conservatives despise the media. No, it is not because Trump tells us to hate the media, conservatives hated the media long before Trump. What makes this time unique is that we have someone who is openly fighting against the media and their agenda. This is why the mask has come off, and it will continue to come off.
