When it comes to politics, the left likes to hide behind the notion that they are all about tolerance. They like to say that they accepting to all opinions and are willing to engage in conversation with them. This is all a complete and utter lie, at least in terms of how they present it. Despite of they say, the left is only tolerant and accepting of views that aligns with theirs. Anybody, conservative or liberal, who dares to have an opinion that doesn’t align with their beliefs, they are immediately called a racist, sexist, bigot, homophobe, nazi, etc. Today’s example comes courtesy of a tweet by a guy named Mark Duplass.

Every so often you will meet a liberal who is not a radical leftist. These people may disagree with conservatives but are willing to have an intelligent conversation with them. The people that come to mind are people like Sam Harris, or in this case Mark Duplass. So on Wednesday, Mark made the unforgivable mistake of tweeting something about Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro, and here is what he said:

” Fellow liberals: If you are interested at all in “crossing the aisle” you should consider following @benshapiro. I don’t agree with him on much but he’s a genuine person who once helped me for no other reason than to be nice. He doesn’t bend the truth. His intentions are good.” – @MarkDuplass

Now by looking at this tweet, you’re probably wondering what is the big deal. And the big deal is that there is no big deal. This is a perfectly reasonable tweet and is something everyone should consider. Doesn’t matter, the left went completely insane over this and here’s some of the things they said.

The “reason” why the left got so riled up is because apparently Ben Shapiro is a “racist sexist bigot homophobic evil nazi”. Now as someone who has followed Ben for a while, this is a completely false take. All of the people who were saying this have probably never listened to a single second of his show or read a word of his books. I could be wrong, but I have my doubts. So anyways, the left just went berserk over this and ruthlessly attacked Mark for having the gaul to say something nice about Ben or any conservative. Mark eventually apologized for this, although I wish he hadn’t. In reality, if Mark had suggested people to follow any other conservative, the left would have still freaked out. Which begs the question, what was the real reason why the left was up in arms about this? Spoiler alert, it wasn’t because of Ben.

One of the left’s biggest weapons they use against conservatives is identity politics. I wrote an article about this very issue and how it is destroying American politics, if you want to check it out. It is a toxic idea that has only divided this nation further and further. As we clearly saw on Wednesday, this was used to bully Mark into submission. Whenever anyone, liberal, women, person of color, dares to have an opinion that doesn’t align with leftist ideology, the left loses it, and viciously attacks them. They believe everyone should be identified by their group identity, which is a really asinine idea and has done nothing good for this nation.

This is why it’s important to separate liberals and leftists. Liberals may disagree with you, but as I said before, they are willing to have a conversation with you and often reject identity politics. Leftists on the other hand, when they disagree with you, they try anything in their power to destroy you. This is why Trump became President. Whenever he says something really dumb, and then you go to criticize him, but the left makes you go right back to him. This is why Democrats will likely lose in November and, unless they change their approach, they will lose the presidency in 2020.
