Today is December 31st, that means it is time for my annual Top 10………..I mean 5 political moments of 2020. So it is no secret that 2020 has been absolutely insane. From the pandemic, to summer riots, to the election. As I was preparing for this piece, I thought it would be easy to come up with the top 10 list. As it turns out, it wasn’t, because everything was interconnected this year. In the end, I could only come up with 5, but it does fit 2020. Without further ado, here’s the list.
5. Iran Debacle
Yes, you’re reading that correctly. The whole Iran World War 3 thing happened this year. Now of course, WW3 didn’t happen nor were we close. Back in early January of this year, President Trump ordered a drone strike near Baghdad International Airport, which held Iranian terrorist leader Qasem Soleimani, who was responsible for hundreds to thousands of deaths, including Americans. This came after an attack on the US embassy in Baghdad and other possible impending attacks. To no surprise, the media and democrats were very upset about this. They were spreading fear on networks saying that we were on the brink of war. Of course, we were nowhere close to that. Iran would have been very stupid to launch an attack on the US. This was just another example of how awful the media is.
4. Impeachmas!
So another thing that happened that we all forgot about was the Impeachment crap. President Trump was impeached by the house just before Christmas 2019. It was then sent to the Senate in January of this year. Of course, Trump was acquitted by the Senate. The reason for the impeachment was because of a supposed Scandal involving Trump and Ukraine. It turned out to be nothing, but Democrats moved in with the impeachment anyways. The media wasn’t happy with the acquittal, but everyone knew it was going to happen.
3. Summer Riots
This is where we start getting into the nitty-gritty stuff of 2020. Back in May, just after memorial day, a man named George Floyd died after being arrested by Police. It was originally believed that the police officer involved was responsible for his death. However, it turns out that Floyd had hard drugs in his system that eventually led to his death. In response to this, there were riots in major cities across the country and continued all throughout the summer. The ones responsible for the riots were the groups Antifa and BLM. This sparked major conversations in this country about supposed systemic racism. Many churches sadly bought into the BLM message and embraced it despite it being unbiblical. It was an awful period for America and we’re still dealing with the repercussions of it.
2. 2020 Election
So, in the midst of it all, we had a presidential election this year. The primaries were super entertaining just seeing how insane all of the democrats were. Joe Biden ended up being the nominee, and thus leads us to the general election. Joe Biden is of course, very incompetent and is not there mentally. The only reason why they ran him is because he had the best chance at beating Trump. This was Trump’s election to lose and I thought and hoped he would win. Then came election day. Normally, we would know the winner that day, but due to voting irregularities, we didn’t find out until a little more than a month later. Despite the ongoing fight against the results, Biden seems to be the official winner. We were told by lawyers like Lin Wood that there is mountains and mountains of evidence of fraud. However they have not released anything which tells me they were all talk. I wanted Trump to win, but even with a Biden presidency, it’s not the end of America.
1. Covid-19
Of the number one thing on everyone’s mind this year is the Covid-19 pandemic. Back in November of 2019, Covid started spreading in Wuhan, China. For 2 months, they kept it quiet, because the Chinese government is evil. Because of their silence, Covid was able to spread all over the world. They finally told the world in late January, but by that point it was already spreading. Now despite the silence and everything, the nature of this virus was way overblown. Yes, it is dangerous to those who are older and with health problems. The same thing applies to the cold and flu. Didn’t matter, the overreaction lead to the worst government overreach I’ve seen in my lifetime. States completely locked down and forced small businesses to close, which lead to a big spike in unemployment. Another thing that happened was that everyone treated each other as if they were with leprosy. It has seriously degraded our society, and exposed the media of who they are and exposed the democrats for willing to do anything to stay in power.
Yes, this year has been insane. It has been filled with a lot bad, but it has also been filled with a lot good. Despite all of that, God is still on the throne and is still sovereign. The calendar year shouldn’t dictate your joy. So with all that said, 2021 is upon us, and I’m looking forward to seeing what it will bring.
