Why don’t we stop blaming each other for the deaths of migrant children.

Within the last several weeks this month, there have been two instances where migrant children had died when they reached the U.S/Mexico border. Now, despite how my wording may look here, it’s very important to note that the children did not die because of the border patrol agents. With the first incident, a family’s daughter died from dehydration and exhaustion after traveling thousands of miles. In the second instance, the child there became sick and died in a nearby hospital. Obviously both cases are terrible and I feel very bad for the parents that have to go through this. Despite of what the media says, border patrol did everything they could to help both children. Something that has been driving me up a wall is the fact that both sides of the aisle have been blaming each other for both deaths, and let me explain more in detail.

So on Saturday, President Trump issued out a series of tweets. These tweets are essentially him blaming Democrats for the deaths of these migrant children. This was completely unnecessary and false, regardless of whether or not you agree with their beliefs on immigration, Democrats did not cause these children to die. At this point though, we shouldn’t be surprised by him tweeting this out. The New York Times explains it more in detail with a piece by Maggie Haberman titled Trump Blames Democrats Over Deaths Of Migrant Children In U.S. Custody. Here’s what it says.

President Trump blamed Democrats on Saturday for the deaths of two migrant children in detention at the southwest border this month, wielding the episodes as justification to fund a border wall.

The comments came in twin posts on Twitter, where the president spent much of the day denouncing Democrats as the partial government shutdown approached its eighth day over his demand for funding for the wall.

Basically they’re accusing the President of using these deaths as a political prop for his agenda. They’re right, but don’t worry, I’m going to get to their giant hypocrisy in just a little bit. Here’s more.

“Any deaths of children or others at the border are strictly the fault of the Democrats and their pathetic immigration policies that allow people to make the long trek thinking they can enter our country illegally,” he wrote in one message, his first public remarks about the deaths. “They can’t. If we had a wall, they wouldn’t even try!”

On Christmas Eve, a boy, 8, identified as Felipe Gómez Alonzo, died in United States custody. The authorities said that he had been taken to a hospital after showing what appeared to be signs of sickness. He was released but was taken again to the hospital, where employees were unable to revive him after he had fainted. Nearly three weeks earlier, Jakelin Caal Maquin, 7, died after she had been taken to a Border Patrol station.

Notice how they worded the phrase “died in United States custody”. It’s true, but the way it was worded is odd and I’ll explain in a little bit. Here’s more.

In pointing to Democrats and their immigration policies, the president overtly injected politics into the children’s deaths and mischaracterized the reasons cited for them, as well as their families’ reactions.

Ok, I agree of course, but there’s a problem with them saying this. Seriously, all day Saturday, the left was up in rage at the President shouting “how dare he blame Democrats for this”!? “how dare he turn this political”!? HES A MONSTER! The outrage was ridiculous as well as highly highly hypocritical and let me explain.

Literally 5 minutes before President Trump tweeted out that tweet, do you know who the left was blaming for the deaths? Was it the parents? Nope, they immediately blamed U.S. border patrol and Republicans and Trump for these deaths. The same exact people who were outraged by Trump for having the audacity to blame Democrats, these same people blamed Trump for these deaths. The Hill published piece highlighting that Democrats will investigate the deaths, here’s what it says

House Democratic leaders on Wednesday vowed to investigate the deaths of two migrant children in U.S. custody.

“The death of two children in U.S. custody is unconscionable,” House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) said in a statement.

“It’s unconscionable” says Nancy Pelosi. Uh huh?

U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials on Tuesday announced that an 8-year old Guatemalan boy had died in the agency’s custody. The boy, Felipe Gómez Alonzo, died after being hospitalized in New Mexico with flu-like symptoms, high fever and vomiting.

Hoyer, who is set to serve as majority leader when Democrats take control of the House next month, said he would hold hearings on the children’s deaths, “as well as the conditions under which thousands of children are being held.”

Uh huh?!

“Democrats call on Homeland Security’s Inspector General to immediately open an investigation into Felipe Alzono-Gomez’s death,” Pelosi said. “The Congress will also investigate this tragedy and the heartbreaking death of Jakelin Amei Rosmery Caal Maquin, to seek justice and ensure that no other child is left to such a fate.”

UH HUH?! So, basically this piece is suggesting that the real people to blame are border patrol and Republicans. Literally the next day, The Hill published a piece expressing their outrage at the President for blaming Democrats. This is the crap that drives me up a freaking wall with Democrats. They get mad when Republicans blame them for something, but they turn around and do the same, and they do it a lot more than Republicans. We saw this with the parkland shooting back in February. The left was very quick to blame the NRA and Republicans for the shooting. They even suggested that conservatives don’t care about the children because they don’t support the left’s views on gun control. This is really disgusting, and just goes to show that the left is not to be trusted when they get outraged by something.

Despite of all of this chaos, this is not Republicans fault and it’s not Democrats fault. Most of the fault for the deaths rests on the parents. They dragged their children thousands of miles to illegally cross the border and neglected to take care of their children. Because of their lack of care, both children got sick and then died. Like I said before, the agents at the border and the hospitals did everything they could to help them, but unfortunately, it wasn’t enough. This is why it’s important to wait for facts before casting blame on people, and this goes with anything.
