Today, we as a nation stop for a day and honor the Men and Women who bravely served to protect our freedom. It is because of these men and women, that we are the greatest nation on earth. It is thanks to them that I am able to even write this. It is thanks to them, that we can freely go to church and worship. It is thanks to them that we make our own living and work in any profession we choose. You get the point right? These Veterans and everyone who else is serving and sacrificed their lives deserve as much praise and honor as we can give them. Since today is Veterans Day, I want to go over a brief history about how the holiday came to be.

On November 11, 1919, President Woodrow Wilson addressed the nation with a message marking the first Armistice Day, which was a honoring those who served in World War 1. In 1926, President Coolidge issued a proclamation calling for the annual observance of Armistice Day on November 11th. It was approved through Congress on May 13, 1938. In 1945, a World War 2 veteran named Raymond Weeks proposed an idea that Armistice day honor everyone who served in any war not just World War 1. In 1954, U.S Representative Ed Rees presented a bill that established it a National Holiday. President Eisenhower signed into law on May 26, 1954. The name was changed from Armistice day to Veterans day on June 1, 1954.

So guys, whether you are on the right or left, let’s all come together and thank the men and women who served, they deserve it. I am truly grateful for everything they have done for our country. If you or someone you know served in any way, I want to first thank you or them and feel free you to share yours or theirs story. Once again, I am grateful to all who served.
