The Blue Tsunami came and then got broken up by the small red wave. So yesterday…What happened yesterday? There was an election right? Anyways, so yeah, yesterday the 2018 midterm elections took place across the country. Obviously an important election, with senator and house seats that were open, as well as Governor in several states. Before I list out the results, I want to hit on a few points on what was said about this election. The left has said for months that there would be this massive blue tsunami that would sweep both the House and the Senate, and for a while the data supported this. However, when the Brett Kavanaugh thing happened in late September and early October, that seemed to have changed. I have never seen so much unification and excitement to vote on the right during that time. Of course over the next weeks leading into yesterday, that did dimmer down a little bit, but the outcome predictions changed dramatically. With all of that said, here are the results from last night and what it means going further.

Now, I’m not going to give every single detail, just the basics of what happened. For the House of Representatives, Democrats have gained the majority. According to the Associated Press, so far Democrats hold 222 seats and Republicans hold 196 seats making it a 26 seat gap. This was predicted from the beginning, I was hoping for the opposite but this result isn’t surprising. For the Senate, Republicans have retained the majority with currently 51+ seats, which was also predictable. A few of the bigger Senate elections in Florida, Texas, and Arizona, Republicans have won all three causing a huge defeat against Democrats. Before I move on, I want to hit on the governor elections in Georgia and Florida. The democrats running in both of these states, Stacey Abrams and Andrew Gillum, received so much coverage from celebrities and the media. As close as the races were, DeSantis won over Gillum. In the great state of Georgia, my home state, Brian Kemp has come out on top over Stacey Abrams. So, although Republicans lost the House, they had a pretty good night, it wasn’t a red wave, but it wasn’t a blue wave either. Now, going forward, what does this mean for President Trump and the country.

With the Democrats holding the majority in the House there are a couple of big things we should expect. One is investigation after investigation after investigation. 2 years into Trump’s presidency, the left has held on to this notion that Trump colluded with the Russian government to influence the 2016 election. There has been ZERO evidence to support any of this. In fact, the Mueller investigation has completely fallen apart which is why you don’t see it in the news anymore. They will launch a lot of investigations but I doubt anything serious will even come up, so basically they are going to virtue signal. The second thing that could happen is bad policy. Now, since there is a Republican Senate and President, I doubt anything bad will get through. However, stuff like spending and regulations could be in danger. In reality, Democrats will do nothing to implement any policy and will do nothing but virtue signal to their base.

On the bright side of all of this, I think President Trump’s chance of being reelected in 2020 is higher now with his base getting more enthusiastic. Like I said yesterday, even with these results, life will go on as usual and the world is not going to end. Now that we got this stressful event behind us, I do look forward on what will happen next in the coming months into 2020.
