Ant-Man and The Wasp Non-Spoiler review

Alright guys, on Friday night, I got to see the new marvel movie Ant-man and the Wasp, and here are my thoughts on it. So, Ant-Man and The Wasp is the newest installment in Marvel Cinematic Universe series. It takes place I believe 2 years after the events of Civil War and brings back all the great characters from the first one. This movie is definitely on the lighter side of marvel films and I’m not complaining. After the ending to Avengers: Infinity War, fans needed one that’s, for the most part, a comedic movie. More on that later. Anyways, I thought thought the movie was really good and I personally enjoyed it better than the first. So, as usual, I’m going to give my brief thoughts on it, what I liked, what I disliked, etc. Just to note, this is a spoiler free review, so if haven’t seen the movie, you have nothing to worry about.

One of the things that I really liked about the movie is the characters. Scott Lang, played by Paul Rudd, is just as great as he was in the first film. He’s goofy at times, but when it called for it, he was good at drama scenes. He has great chemistry with his cast mates and above all a fun character. Now Hope Pym, played by Evangeline Lilly who hasn’t aged since her days in Lost, is an absolute badass in this one. I liked her in the first one, don’t get me wrong, but she upped it up some levels in this one. Other than that, her actual character was great, she can funny, but definitely knows how to do dramatic acting. Hope’s dad Hank, was great in this film. Scott’s daughter Cassie is great. Scott’s friend Luis is awesome. I think he’s one of my favorite characters in the movie. The action sequences in this film were pretty good, especially the ones where shrinking is involved.

The villain of, Ghost, was definitely not one of my favorite villains in the MCU. Don’t get me wrong, her character was pretty good, but as villain, she didn’t do much in my taste. She just seemed like a weird villain to add to this film. The concept of her powers were great, but the delivery wasn’t that great. There weren’t really any parts that dragged honestly.

Like I said before, if looking for a more heavier movie, like infinity war was, you won’t find it. It’s a lighter more fun tone and I think that’s its biggest strength. It worked for the first one, it worked for Thor: Ragnarok, and it worked for this one as well. With that being said, to put it simply, that freaking mid-credits scene though guys. I’m not going to tell you what it involves, but there’s a chance that it will kill the lighter mood you were feeling prior to it.

Overall, the plot was good, the characters were good, the action was good, overall it was a really good film. The rating I would give it would be a solid 8.0/10.
